Wasaga Beach Provincial Park: Swim/walking pets

Wasaga Beach is Canada’s largest freshwater beach on the southern end of Georgian Bay in Ontario. Within a 36-minute trip from our cabins is an excellent destination for outdoor activities—plenty of activities to enjoy during the summer and winter months. During summer, fishing is allowed in designated areas, and the beach is perfect for swimming and canoeing. The beach is over 14 kilometres long and has a boardwalk running along a portion of it. Additionally, the area has many parks and trails to explore, such as Ganaraska Trail and Water Agency Loop. Your furry friend is allowed to visit the park, too. However, must be on a leash no longer than 2 meters. The beach becomes a winter wonderland in the winter, and you can go snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, or even snowmobiling. Various events and festivals are held throughout the year, such as the Wasaga Beach Farmers’ Market and the Wasaga Beach Christmas Parade.

Awenda Pet Beach Area:

Awenda Provincial Park is an excellent spot for swimming and sunbathing with its several natural beaches along the Geo rgian Bay shoreline. The park is easily accessible from our property, taking no more than a 15-minute drive. Awenda Provincial Park is an excellent spot for outdoor activities and relaxation, such as boating, camping, or canoeing. Swimmers are advised to keep an eye on themselves as no lifeguards are stationed at the beaches. However, there are plenty of opportunities to enjoy swimming with designated areas for pets, making it a perfect spot to bring your furry friends. The park has a Pet Beach where dogs are allowed, but the owner must keep them on a two-metre leash and clean up after them. Spend a day at Awenda Provincial Park enjoying the beach and soaking up the sun.

Wendat Hiking Trail:

The Wendat Hiking Trail is a fantastic choice for anyone who enjoys hiking, whether you are a beginner or looking for a shorter trail. It is conveniently located just a 16-minute drive from our property, and the trail is only 4.3km long, taking just over an hour to complete. During your hike, you will be surrounded by the beauty of nature, with plenty of opportunities to spot a variety of wildlife along the way. For those who love camping, the trail offers many spots for a relaxing and peaceful staycation in the heart of nature. It’s the perfect place to unwind and reconnects with nature. While the best time to visit is between May and October, you can still enjoy the trail outside these months. If you want to bring your furry friend along, you can do so, but for safety reasons, it is required that they be kept on a leash. Whether you want to explore the trail alone, with friends, or with your pet, the Wendat Hiking Trail is a great option to consider for a fun outdoor adventure.

Discovery Harbour:

Discovery Harbour is a mu st-visit historical site in Penetanguishene, Ontario, Canada, located just 15 minutes away from our property. This former naval and military base played a crucial role in the War of 1812 and now offers visitors a chance to step back in time and explore its rich history. Throughout the year, Discovery Harbour hosts various seasonal events and activities for visitors of all ages to enjoy. One of the most popular events is the Mid-Winter Social, which takes place in February and features interactive activities, live music, and treats from the period. For school groups, the Adventures in Time Travel program allows students to experience life in the 19th century.
If you’re looking for something spooky, the Ghost Tour is held in October and offers visitors a chance to explore the site after dark while hearing spooky tales of ghost sightings and paranormal activity. Another October event is Pumpkinferno, where the site is transformed into a pumpkin wonderland with thousands of carved pumpkins on display.
In addition to these seasonal events, Discovery Harbour is open to the public for tours and self-guided visits from May to October. Visitors can explore the historic buildings and learn about the site’s fascinating history through exhibits and interactive displays. Whether you’re a history buff or just looking for a fun day out, Discovery Harbour is worth a visit.

The King's Wharf Theatre:

Hospital:

Georgian Bay General Hospital, located at 1112 St. Andrew’s Drive in Midland, is one of the closest hospitals to our cabins, just a 15-minute drive away. The hospital provides various services, including emergency care, surgical, specialized chronic care, mental health, complex continuing care, and rehabilitation services.
In a medical emergency, we recommend calling 911 immediately or going directly to the nearest hospital. Their staff is always available to assist you and answer any questions or concerns you may have. Your health and safety are of the most importance to us, and we want to ensure that you feel secure and well taken care of during your stay with us.
