After a successful day of fishing, you can retreat to our cozy and comfortable cabin, complete with all the amenities you need to relax and unwind. And with the added convenience of being just a few steps away from your fishing spot, you can maximize your time on the ice without worrying about the hassle of a long commute back to your cabin.

The Festival of Lights:

The Festival of Lights is a winter dreamland in December, and it’s the perfect way to get into the holiday spirit. A short route of 7 minutes from our property, this event is located at Town Dock, 2 Main St, Penetanguishene. The festival features beautiful light displays. It’s an excellent opportunity to spend time with family and friends while enjoying the festive ambiance. After the light event, there are plenty of Christmas festivities at the Penetanguishene Centennial Museum. Whether you’re interested in face painting, live music, delicious food, yummy cookies and hot drinks, visitors can enjoy ice skating and horse-drawn carriage rides through the town. The event is free, and everyone is welcome to attend.

Winterama:

Winterama festival has been a beloved tradition in Penetanguishene since 1984, offering various fun winter activities and sports for locals and visitors alike. The oldest winter carnival in Ontario is held annually at 2 Main St, Penetanguishene, Ontario. It’s a 7-minute drive from our cabins! The festival aims to enhance community spirit and pride through people, partnerships, and products. The lumberjack show is also a crowd-pleaser, featuring impressive displays of strength and skill as contestants compete in various wood-chopping and sawing competitions.
For those who enjoy watching or participating in wrestling, the festival offers exciting wrestling contests that showcase the strength and agility of the competitors. And for those who appreciate the beauty and creatives of winter art, the snow sculpture competition is a must-see, featuring stunning works of art carved out of snow and ice. Winterama welcomes families, friends, and visitors to participate in the seasonal celebration and enjoy the winter dreamland that Penetanguishene has to offer.

Mount St. Louis Moonstone:

Mount St. Louis Moonstone is a popular ski resort just a 40-minute drive from our cabins. Open from Monday, March 20th through Sunday, April 9th, from 9:00 am to 4:00 pm. The 8-week Night Program is available from January to March on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday. The program will be on sale in mid-September, and customers MUST BE purchasing online programs in advance; lift tickets are not included in the program’s cost. Mount St. Louis Moonstone is a popular ski resort in Coldwater, Ontario. It has been catering to skiing and snowboarding enthusiasts for over 50 years. The resort boasts 36 slopes and trails that cater to all levels of skiers and snowboarders. It has nine chairlifts and three carpet lifts, making it easy to access the slopes. Additionally, the resort’s snowmaking and grooming facilities are top-notch, ensuring excellent ski conditions throughout the winter season.
Apart from skiing and snowboarding, Mount St. Louis Moonstone offers a range of winter activities, including snowshoeing and tubing. The resort’s tubing park is a favourite for families and groups, featuring multiple lanes and a lift system that takes riders back to the top of the hill.
At Mount St. Louis Moonstone, packages are available for skiers of all levels, including a Beginner package, equipment rental, and rental repair. Visitors can also purchase season passes, and buying tickets online in advance is recommended to save money. The resort is well-maintained and provides visitors with with an unforgettable experience on the slopes.

Snowshoe Ecotour:

This activity is a snowshoe ecotour at the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre. It is a 20-minute drive from our cabins. Participants can choose start times between 9:30 a.m. and 12:30 p.m., with a minimum of three and a maximum of six participants per tour. However, the trip must be pre-booked at least two weeks in advance and is only available to a minimum of 3 and a maximum of 6 people. The tour includes a snowshoeing art lesson and a guided search for animal footprints and signs in the area. Chickadees are known to approach visitors and even take food from their hands. The tour ends with a warm drink by the bonfire. However, the participant must be aged 12 or older, and pets are prohibited on the tour. Overall, the Wye Marsh Wildlife Centre’s Ecotour offers a unique and exciting way to explore the natural beauty of the marsh and learn about the wildlife that inhabits it.
